Overview
For over 30 years, Babysense has been a trusted leader in baby monitoring, supporting millions of parents and hundreds of hospitals worldwide. Building on this legacy, the company introduced a line of Smart Nursery products—such as a video baby monitor, breathing motion monitor, and sound and light machine—that seamlessly integrate with the app, providing parents with enhanced control and more effective monitoring.
From Strategy to Design
As the Product Design Lead and Product Manager, I took on a dual role in driving this project forward. Working closely with the CTO and CEO, I combined insights from market and user research, along with feedback, to shape the product strategy and roadmap. From there, I proceeded with designing the app.
Key Metrics
Increase in daily active users, indicating higher user involvement.
Product sales increased by 15%, driven by enhanced product ratings and a surge in positive customer reviews.

The Design
Monitoring and Soothing
The Home Screen serves as a central hub, allowing parents to effortlessly monitor their baby’s well-being. It provides quick access to live video, breathing motion tracking, and soothing sounds and lights. The screen’s primary focus is to offer peace of mind, ensuring parents can stay informed and comfort their baby with minimal effort.
Capturing Precious Moments
The video monitoring feature lets parents watch their baby in real-time, capturing and recording special moments. With instant notifications, they never miss an important moment and stay connected to their baby’s well-being.
Quick Access to Essential Functions
The Camera Widget provides easy access to key functions like capturing photos, recording videos, talking to the baby, and adjusting settings. It simplifies the monitoring process, making it user-friendly even for less tech-savvy caregivers.
Landscape View
The Landscape view offers a larger, more immersive display for optimal baby monitoring, while also tracking breathing motion and sleep status. The main camera buttons are conveniently placed on the sides of the screen, enhancing the overall viewing experience when holding the phone horizontally with both hands.
Video History
The Video History feature organizes recordings into daily segments, making it easy for parents to revisit and save important moments.
Gallery
The Gallery stores all captured photos and videos, making it easy for parents to download and preserve precious memories.
Breathing Motion & Sleep Monitoring
The monitor tracks the baby’s breathing and sleep, giving parents peace of mind and helping them make informed decisions to improve their baby’s rest.
Soothing Sound and light machine
Customizable sound and light combinations help calm infants to sleep, gently wake them in a good mood, and provide fun music for playtime.
Routines
Routines simplify sleep training with scheduled sound and light combinations, creating a calming bedtime environment. This helps establish consistent sleep patterns, soothing babies to sleep and gently waking them up, making bedtime easier for both parents and babies.
Timer
The Timer feature lets parents set precise durations for the sound and light machine, ensuring it automatically powers down once the baby falls asleep, story time ends, or after any part of the baby's routine.
Quick & simple sharing
With a QR code or invite link, loved ones can easily access the Smart Nursery, helping enhance care for the baby.
